The Committee Makes It Happen

The troop committee supports the operations of the troop.

Your Membership Leader can log new scouts into the troop and link them to their parents' records.

Your Advancement Leader can track each scout's achievements and award ranks and merit badges.

Your Treasurer can track the troop's accounts and each member's account on-line.

Your designated web site administrator can control the security of your site.

And everyone can use announcements and e-mail to keep communication flowing.

Announcements

Any authorized member can post announcements to the home page, just by filling out a form on the site.

The great thing is you don't have to remember to go back and get rid of an announcement once it is out of date.

The home page will start displaying the announcement on your designated start date, and stop showing it after the end date.

It goes away all by itself!

E-Mail

E-Mail is a great way to get the word out about upcoming events.

TroopWebHost makes it easy to send e-mails to everyone in the troop.

You can compose an e-mail and send it to every member, or specific members you select just by checking the box next to their name on a list.

Every e-mail message sent from the site is saved in the database and can be recalled by any authorized member.

The treasurer has a special e-mail function that allows him to send a personalized message to each member with their current account balance.

Automated Newsletter

You can broadcast current announcements to your troop with the Automated Newsletter.  This e-mail blast can be set up to go out once a week (or less frequently) to every member of your troop (unless they opt out).

In addition to announcements, the newsletter can contain:
  • Upcoming campouts and other events, with the sign-up status of each family member
  • Upcoming meetings
  • Adult training that is about to expire
  • Troop equipment checked out to family members
  • Account balances
  • Requirements needed for next rank advancement
  • Merit badges that are in progress

Rechartering

Your membership records include the information needed for rechartering, including transfers and multiples.

Your leadership records are linked to the appropriate BSA position codes.

You can also track when members joined the troop or left the troop, and which scouts are subscribing to Boys Life.

This information can be exported to a file that is in a format suitable for submission to your local council.
