New Widgets - Merit Badge Pamphlets

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

Merit badge pamphlets are now available for free download on the Scouts BSA website!  Our new Merit Badge Resources Page makes it easy to access these PDF files.

We've also created two new widgets that display the list of merit badge pamphlets:

• Merit Badge Pamphlets - Data Window
• Merit Badge Pamphlets - Grid

You will see these new widgets when you add a new section to a custom page, as shown here:

You might consider adding the Data Window widget to your My Stuff hubs, or to your Advancement Hub, as shown below:

The grid could be a nice addition to a custom page that introduces prospective scouts to the merit badge program, as shown here:

Merit Badge Resources Page

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

This is a new page on the Advancement menu that is available to all users after logging on.

This page lists all current badges for which Scouts BSA has provided a downloadable merit badge pamphlet.

Click the View Requirements button to view the detailed requirements for any badge.

Click the Download Pamphlet (PDF) link to download the PDF file from the Scouts BSA website.

Users who are authorized for the "View Merit Badge Counselors" task will see the names of the merit badge counselors for each badge.

Other Pamphlet Links

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

You can also download the merit badge pamphlet from any scout/merit badge page.  So, as shown below, when a scout goes to My Stuff → My Merit Badges and selects a badge from the list, they will see a Download Pamphlet (PDF) link directly below the merit badge name.

Advancement leaders will see a similar link when they select a merit badge that is assigned to a scout.

This link will only appear when looking at the current version of a merit badge.  We do not have links to the prior versions of merit badge pamphlets.

Merit Badge Test Lab

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Scouts BSA Test Lab is an exciting new program for introducing potential new merit badges to the scouting community.

TroopWebHost now supports the first three Test Lab merit badges that are offered:

• Auctioneering
• Wildland Fire Management
• Life Skills

The Test Lab merit badges will appear on the choice list for merit badges, just like any other merit badge.

All of the requirements are available, and leaders can sign off on requirements just like for any other badge.

Completing a Test Lab merit badge will NOT be counted toward the merit badge requirements for Star, Life, Eagle, or Eagle Palms . . . unless (or until) Scouts BSA decides to convert a Test Lab badge to a permanent, official merit badge.  If that happens, TroopWebHost will convert all such badges automatically, at which point they WILL apply to the merit badge requirements for Star, Life, Eagle, and Eagle Palms.

Copy Calendar URL

Authorized users have always been able to view the complete URL for an event - suitable for external links - at the bottom of the calendar detail page.  This has been replaced with the button shown above, which will copy the complete URL into your clipboard.
